When aircraft outlive their test equipment, next-generation interface solutions from mbs' will make upgrading easier
By John Cole
Computer-hosted testing solutions often hold a hidden cost for aerospace testing and maintenance organizations. Although their aircraft often remain in service for 30 years or more, the computer databuses used in their test systems typically become obsolete within 10 years. Consequently, maintaining an operational test system when computers or databuses fail can require the expense of replacing interface cards, developing new software, and re-qualifying the test system. ........

ÆSyBus Concept
Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP) have emerged in recent years as the undisputed leaders in communication. More than 90% of all communication hardware is Ethernet based and the success of the World Wide Web has made Internet Protocol, and the associated Transport Control Protocol (TCP), the most successful and available protocol in existence. Consequently, previously unimaginable resources have been directed to the development and success of this communication duo and as a result, they have enjoyed ever increasing performance, combined with prestigious support, availability and low costs.
...how our unique architecture can be exploited to provide a cost effective, distributed interface:
• ÆsyBus Modules can be connected to any computer with an Ethernet Interface: you have the freedom to choose the computer which best suits your application and you are not restricted by the availability of interface cards.
• The use of UDP/IP protocol allows ÆsyBus Modules to be accessed via almost any operating system. ÆsyBus Modules are platform independent. They need no special software drivers.
• Up to 10 users/applications can access the Modules concurrently. ......
Easier Data Bus Interfacing...
Now Coming to a LAN Near You.
Next-generation data bus interface products eliminate traditional interface cards and controller software. Allow multiple users to control and monitor bus data from any computer, with any application...over a standard Ethernet LAN.
Accessing avionics data buses with traditional interface cards has always come with more than its fair share of inconvenience. Hunting for the right card and driver...Paying dearly for proprietary hardware and software... Struggling to adapt the controller program to your application.
Comprehensive ARINC 429 Bus Analyser & Stimulator
GSS100r is an extremely comprehensive and powerful tool to analyse and troubleshoot any kind of ARINC 429 communication. It supports Windows, Linux and other platforms. It allows the user to very easily setup scenarios and Tx/Rx configurations of ARINC 429 labels in either binary or hex notation, or using the integrated Label database for engineering interpretation in either direction. The scenarios and configurations are stored in “Projects” that can be recalled at any time. The entire suite of functional entities of GSS100r operate concurrently – e.g. recording of data in parallel with stimulation and monitoring whilst using avionics instrument widgets is a standard situation within GSS100r.
No longer need aircraft be stranded for want of a data load. The mini PDL-Pad provides the solution. This economic, small, lightweight module can acquire data anywhere in the world via 3G, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet or alternatively, it can retrieve data from its own built-in storage and then, rapidly load the aircraft equipment according to either ARINC 429, 603, 615-3, Secure USB or optional ARINC 615-A, PCMCIA.
