MIL-STD-1553 Interface to Gigabit Ethernet
The Development of MIL-STD-1553 has progressed continuously since its introduction in the 70`s to become the most used and best known standard for military interfacing and computers systems in use today. However, in recent times it has become generally acknowledged that the 1 Mb/s data rate is often too slow to support the needs of many modern avionics system requirements, but the alternative of changing data buses is also difficult due to the need to communicate with the vast range of existing equipment using MIL-STD-1553.
- One Dual Redundant Mil-Std-1553 Bus Channel
- Bus Controller, Remote Terminal or Monitor Operation
- Periodic Message Scheduling
- Aperiodic Messages
- Full Status Monitoring of Transmit and Receive Events
- Time-stamping and Timer Synchronisation
- Integrated three port Ethernet Switch
MBS’ MIL-STD-1553 products, although originally targeted to the interfacing needs for test, simulation and maintenance, offer a simple solution to this data rate problem by providing a Gigabit Ethernet "bridge" between modern computer systems and legacy military equipment.
MBS’ MIL-STD-1553 products offer the engineer all the advantages of a networked system, with ease of use and exceptional performance.
As with the other networked interface products from MBS’, the MIL-STD-1553 range can be easily connected to almost any computer via its Ethernet Interface (which operates up to 1000 Mb/s) and its control software can be programmed to run on almost any serious operating system, giving the system designer an amazing flexibility of choice.
